Johnson, Gaukroger, Woolett & Smith, P.S. is now known as Johnson, Gaukroger, Smith & Marchant, P.S. The Firm bids a fond farewell to Joe Woolett, who retired in 2010, and welcomes Danielle Marchant as a named partner in 2011. The Firm wishes the best of luck to Joe in all his future endeavors.
Steve Smith, partner at JGWS, was the keynote speaker at the Badger Mountain Lodge Junior Achievement Awards ceremony on May 20, 2010 at Waterville, Washington. The Lodge honors the boy and girl of the year from Waterville and Mansfield high schools, as well as the teacher of the year from each of those high schools. Mr. Smith's speech included insights on what employers look for when hiring new employees in the way of competency, personality and ambition. The speech focused on education and skill sets desired by employers, developing social skills and relationships with other people, goal setting and goal achieving.
Joe Woolett, partner at JGWS, and Jordan Miller, associate at JGWS, attended the LAP/Lawyer Services Department 13th Annual Statewide Conference that focused on effective communications with clients, peers and other counsel. Mr. Miller was also a co-facilitator for one of the programs at this Conference. The Conference was sponsored by the Washington State Bar Association.
Danielle Marchant, partner at JGWS, recently attended an educational seminar sponsored by the Washington State Bar Association. The seminar focused on litigating personal injury claims from the injured party's perspective. Ms. Marchant's practice includes working on behalf of injuried individuals to obtain compensation for their injuries.
Steve Smith, partner at JGWS, received the Volunteer Attorney Award for the month of January 2010. Jordan Miller, an associate at JGWS, recevied the award in December 2009. The award is handed out by Chelan-Douglas County Volunteer Attorney Services ("VAS").
Mr. Smith volunteered his time and legal knowledge to aid those in need to draft estate planning documents. He also offered follow up services beyond the VAS clinic to an individual, and started negotiations to prevent foreclosure for another person's home. Mr. Smith's commitment to aiding those in need is another shining example of how JGWS gives back to the community in which it serves.
